NONA Pizza Brussels, like in the best Italian pizzerias

When I remember my trip to Brussels, I always think of this place. NONA Pizza Brussels is one of the best pizzerias in this city. All ingredients are organic they say and from local farmers. Therefore, they offer a simplified menu with top-notch pizzas that include seasonal specials. Also, this is a pizzeria known for proper Neapolitan pizza, very well cooked at high temperature to keep the sourdough soft and thick at the sides as tradition requires.

About NONA – organic farm-to-table restaurants

NONA is a family of organic farm-to-table restaurants with a mission to “Do Good”, based in Brussels. Since then, they have opened another Neapolitan pizzeria and NONA PASTA, a restaurant with fresh pasta. Both Neapolitan pizzerias making pizza according to the rules of the AVPN in Naples (AVPN #699). Actually, what makes this pizzeria different from others is the fact that the food is handmade with organic ingredients from Belgian farmers.

Our experience

We visited Pizzeria Nona Brussels recently during a holiday in Belgium. The reason why we decided to go to this pizzeria is a large number of positive reviews on TripAdvisor. The place is pretty small, and unfortunately, you might need to wait in line before getting seated, but what’s waiting for you inside is just amazing. Forget about appetizers and desserts: this place is actually about pizza and the quality of the dough and ingredients.

You need to be aware of the fact that this’s not a standard pizzeria but a pizzeria at a very high quality, affordable prices, and quantities. That’s why they only have a limited selection of pizzas on the menu. The waiters were quick and very kind. Also, the price of pizza is very good for Brussels. The biggest disadvantage of NONA Pizza Brussels is the poor selection of drinks.

Café Capitale Brussels, a beautiful place for a delicious coffee!

Since we had only 3 days to visit as many attractions in Brussels, finding the perfect places to have good quality coffee was a very difficult task. We decided to visit Café Capitale Brussels because of a large number of reviews with very high ratings on TripAdvisor. Café Capitale Brussels sits not far from the Bourse and Grand Place.

A coffee oasis in a big city

Seeing the displays of various method coffee preparations I already knew I was in the right place. The ordered coffee is served in a wooden tray, a little bit hipster but certainly makes this place different from others. For high-quality coffee is very important where it comes from. Café Capitale Brussels orders coffee from a Primavera coffee importer who distributes coffee around the world with coffee from Guatemala. Given that the firm strives for perfection in all stages of coffee production starting from growing trees up to the highest standards of harvesting and processing I am sure this favourite beverage will delight you. Café Capital Brussels also offers the opportunity to buy coffee.

Café Capitale Brussels – good coffee & good vibe

In the interior, there are not many places to sit, but they have tables outside. We also liked the music in the background that was very calming. In addition to coffee, offer also includes delicious pastries and other nice things. For breakfast, I would recommend tasty croissants.

Bartender school

As many have noticed, bartenders are never in a hurry, and coffee is slowly being made. To become a true barman and learn more about this drink you can apply for courses in English and French. Some of the themes are an introduction to coffee, barista skills – foundation, barista skills – intermediate, brewing – intermediate, etc. Also, the staff was very friendly. We’ll sure visit it the next time we’re in Brussels.

La Belgique Gourmande, a perfect place for chocolate addicts

If you ever come to Belgium, two things you have to try are the Belgian chocolate and Belgian waffles. In this post, I will write about Belgian chocolates, more specifically about a shop where you can buy any kind of chocolate you want. It’s about a La Belgique Gourmande shop.

Nice shop near Grand Place

In fact, the entire centre of Brussels is full of similar shops, but La Belgique Gourmande really stands out from others. The reason is because of the beautiful design of the store and because of the wide range of products. Actually, the first thing that caught my eye was a very nice shop window. The store has an old charm because it is one of the oldest shops in the street.

La Belgique Gourmande chocolate

Chocolate comes at multiple sizes, shapes, and prices. Also, you can buy chocolate with a gram, which makes it more affordable. Especially if you want to try different types of chocolate. Their price is about 5€ per 100 grams. The offer is based on traditional Belgian sweets. You will find traditionally made Speculoos, fine Gaufrettes, Brussels and Liège Waffles, Waffles with syrup or chocolate, almond cookies, fruit gingerbread, sugar candy, etc.

Gift boxes for every budget

If you are a tourist in Brussels you will certainly want to bring something home or give your loved ones a gift. Because of that, I recommend you to buy beautiful sweets painted boxes. Most of them are with the motifs of Brussels. Also, we found motifs with paintings by one of the most famous painters of the world, Magritte. I most liked boxes in the form of traditional Belgian houses, whose price is about 20 euros. The offer is also complemented by a wide selection of orangettes, florentines, mendiants, almond mixtures, candied fruit, cuberdons, caramels, babeluttes, etc.

In this store in the centre of the city, you will probably run into a crowd so don’t expect a silent, personal service. During your payment, you will probably see a beautiful old antique cash register giving this place a special atmosphere.

If you walk near the shop, try at least one chocolate. Find out more information about La Belgique Gourmande on:
