TUI UK has announced that it will reopen 15 lines to Croatia by May, to three airports – Pula, Dubrovnik, and Split. The return of TUI UK is great news for domestic tourism after air traffic between the two countries was suspended. This season, a larger number of British tourists is expected than last year. Last season, only 127,129 tourists arrived in Croatia from the UK, who made 685 thousand overnight stays, which is only 14.8 percent of the results in the year before. The Moment of the Earthquake:

Petrinja and Sisak today – empty streets, eerie silence and ruins

The day after the earthquake, Petrinja looks like a ghost town, as the scene of a post-apocalyptic film. There is almost no one on the streets, the population has been evacuated, and the only place where there is any life is the Red Cross checkpoints, where basic necessities are distributed to people. Excavators and other heavy machinery can be seen on the roads.

Food Truck Festival, a new favorite gastronomic event in Zagreb

Lovers of nature, delicious street food snacks, and refreshing drinks have finally got a new edition of the Food Truck Festival Zagreb. In general, this is the first Croatian festival of food trucks where visitors will enjoy the beautifully decorated themed summer green oases, family, kid’s, sports, and chill picnic areas with a rich gastronomic offer of trucks and live performances by street bands.

About Food Truck Festival Zagreb

The Food Truck Festival is held on the “Zagreb Sea” called Jarun, right next to the Aquarius club with a variety of delicious snacks, craft beers, colorful cocktails, and dancing music. The Food Truck Festival is divided into four zones: Food on Wheels, Drinks on Wheels, Music on Wheels, and Chill Zones.

Colorful chill zones produced by the hands of small craftsmen will delight all lovers of nature and hedonism. The most interesting is perhaps the colorful booths made of car tires and wooden pallets. Where to eat & drink in Zagreb

In the last few years, the Zagreb culinary scene has changed a lot. Many new restaurants with very different cuisines have opened but the city still has a lot of traditional restaurants. If you are looking for local food I would recommend one of the oldest restaurants in the city, Kaptolska let. During my stay in this city, I visited some restaurants and cafes and wrote reviews about them. More information on Zagreb Travel Guide.

Robert Koch Institute: Germany has put two Dalmatian counties on its red list

The German Robert Koch Institute has added two Dalmatian counties on its red list. Due to the increased number of new cases of coronavirus infection, the Šibenik-Knin and Split-Dalmatia counties are on the red list. Islands along the coast such as Brač or Hvar are also influenced by the classification as a risk area, but not the northern coastal areas with Istria and the areas around Zadar and the southern coast with the city of Dubrovnik.

Croatia joins UK quarantine ‘red list’

The BBC has just announced that Croatia could be the next country to end up on the British red list. British government ministers are meeting in London this afternoon to discuss changes to Britain’s list of safe travel corridors, the BBC reported. Such a decision could follow similar decisions made for travelers returning from Spain, France, and Malta.

Today, during the afternoon, speculations were confirmed. From Saturday, everyone entering Britain from Croatia will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine!

The map – Germany has put two Dalmatian counties on its red list

This warning doesn’t mean anything good for Croatian tourism: especially when it comes to the south of the Adriatic and when it comes to the Germans, the season is over. During this year, there were only 50% of guests compared to last year. By mid-June, there was almost no one. But since then the numbers have become much better. During August, there were about 70% of guests compared to 2019.

The director of the Croatian headquarters for tourism in Frankfurt, Romeo Draghicchio, says that Croatian tourism fears a general warning for travel: “It would hit us hard: Germans are our number one guest.” There are currently about 180,000 guests from Germany in Croatia, but most of them are in the north, in Istria, Kvarner and the islands there. Draghicchio recalls that there are relatively few active cases of coronavirus.

RED – Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin County

Croatian Minister of Health: We will start testing more

“Today, 1653 people have been tested, which is a significant number. We will certainly increase the number of tests in the immediate period ahead because we want to protect the health and social care system. The increase in the number of tests has been shown to be effective in preventing the spread of the infection. Also, the Croatian Minister of Health, Vili Beroš, says: “Now, in the autumn, we will change the strategy a bit and increase the number of tests”.

Slovenia puts Croatia on the list of red countries

“The situation in Croatia is so bad that we have no choice but to call on our citizens to return to Slovenia as soon as possible. Things are getting worse quickly and it will be much worse,” Slovenian government spokesman Jelko Kacin said. He added that Slovenes who are now in Croatia will have “enough” time to return home and avoid quarantine, but also to avoid traffic jams and crowds at the border.

Interestingly, Kacin is spending the summer in his house in Klimno on the island of Krk for years. Last week, after a statement warning of an increase in new infections in Croatia, Kacin returned to Krk, apparently not in the least afraid of the “Croatian coronavirus”.

Valamar Hotels provided a free test on Covid-19 to Austrian guests

This year, 28,000 guests from Austria stayed in Valamar hotels and camps, mostly in the northern Adriatic in Istria and Kvarner. These destinations have recorded a particularly low number of cases since the beginning of the epidemic, Valamar reports. Moreover, no cases of infection have been reported among Valamar guests since the beginning of the epidemic. Since Austria has introduced mandatory COVID-19 testing on return from Croatia, Valamar has provided a free Covid-19 test or a 100€ discount per person for testing in Austria.

Croatia reports biggest daily jump in coronavirus infections

Croatia reports biggest daily jump in coronavirus infections. Today is the second day in a row that Croatia has a record number of coronavirus infections in one day. In the last 24 hours, 208 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Croatia. The number of currently active cases in Croatia today is 961. Among them are 106 patients on hospital treatment (10 patients on a respirator). Also, two people died today. The highest number of newly infected is in the Split-Dalmatia County – 77, and in the City of Zagreb – 50.

Young people are increasingly driving COVID-19’s spread

Health departments across the country are reporting that younger people are making up larger shares of the total number of those infected with the virus. “The average age of those infected is 31 years as some two-thirds were infected in the nightclubs and bars that remain open beyond midnight,” Capak told at a news conference. Young people must be responsible for others. They will have to return to their homes and be with their elderly family members and go to schools, colleges, and workplaces where they are in contact with many people and at-risk groups.

NEW RULES – Croatia will require that bars and nightclubs to close after midnight for a period of 10 day from this weekend!

Austria puts Croatia on the list of risk countries for travel

On Friday, the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned its citizens to not travel to Croatia due to the possibility of coronavirus infection. The ministry announced on Friday that the warning would be valid from August 17th. Austria fears the return of its citizens from a holiday in Croatia, which on Thursday recorded a record number of newly infected – 282, could intensify the spread of coronavirus on its territory.

Croatia reports biggest daily jump in coronavirus infections – End of tourist season?

Health Minister Vili Beros said: “The tourist season is in full swing, 830 thousand tourists are in our country and an increase in the number was to be expected. It is not possible to predict exactly how much. However, it is important to note that in some counties, such as Split-Dalmatia and the City of Zagreb, the number of new cases is significantly large. But we have four counties with only one new patient, we have 14 counties with less than 10 new patients.

The most important thing is that everything is under control and that we know the source of the infection. It is necessary to constantly emphasize that we ourselves, with our caution and effort, can contribute to reducing the spread of the infection. That is what is important to say at this moment.”

Also, he said: “We have enabled life and tourism. Without tourism, which is one of the more important branches of our economy, everything would be far worse. We have purposefully accepted this risk. I spoke this morning with my Slovenian and Austrian colleagues, in a way we are all on the same track. The tourist season is now coming to an end and we need to turn to autumn, turn to the beginning of the school year.”
